10 Conditions for a Successful Smart Meter Roll-Out

Thursday, 15 March, 2018

Almost 40 percent of the 281 million electricity customers in EU28+2 had a smart meter at the end of 2017, a share that is set to increase to more than 70 percent over the coming five years.

However, is the installation of smart meters enough to realise the expected benefits for utilities, consumers and society at large?

In this workshop, we will look at smart metering beyond the numbers. How does a consumer benefit from a smart meter? How do utilities actually use smart meters for grid management? How do smart meters enable a smart energy future for the society at large?

We will look at previous and current roll-outs to see what we can learn from their experiences, we will talk to consumers, utilities representatives and regulators to find out their perspective and we will elaborate 10 key things that make a smart meter roll-out successful.
