ESMIG at Solar and Storage Live 2020

On the 2 - 4 December, we were delighted to sponsor and participate in Solar and Storage Live 2020

This virtual event, focussing on renewable energy, celebrated the technologies at the forefront of the transition to a greener, smarter, more decentralised energy system.

With over 200 speakers, the event brought together key stakeholders within the energy value chain, supporting a green economic recovery focussing on promoting cleaner, greener lifestyles and an economy that supports sustainability.

With two key representatives of ESMIG joining the exciting line up of speakers were able to share and promote our work with our members.

First up, on the 3 December, Cami Dodge-Lamm, ESMIG Working Group Chair and Head of European Public Affairs and Regulation at cyberGRID moderated a session highlighting the importance of data in energy storage.  This session explored how we can use data to change our use of batteries for the better and highlighted the importance of data in battery storage for optimal grid operation.

On 4 December, Patrick Caiger-Smith, ESMIG Executive Committee Member and Chief Executive Officer at geo joined two panel sessions. The first session explored how smart home technology will encourage adoption of renewables and highlighted three key drivers in energy usage and consumption: smart meters, EV’s and smart home technology. The key question being, how do we encourage interoperability and make all smart home technologies for energy use and consumption management work together to support a flexible grid?

In the second and final session. Patrick shared his insights on how energy data can help inform customer propositions and looked at the ‘’home of the future’’ needed to reach the ambition targes of 68% carbon reductions by 2030.

With over 3,000 attendees over the three days of the event, and with all three sessions attracting an average of 80 participants it is clear to see the interest among peers in these key topics.
